Giving blood in Algeria

Register as a donor on Doctavie and you are told when a nearby facility needs your group. Never for money, and never without a health facility standing behind the request.

Donation is voluntary, and stays that way

There is no price or reward column in our database, and none will ever be added. Nor can a private individual broadcast a request: it must be co-signed by a health facility, which carries the responsibility for it.

How it works

  1. 1. You register

    Your blood group, your wilaya, and the radius within which you accept being asked. Your position is stored to roughly half a kilometre — never your address.

  2. 2. A facility needs your group

    A clinic or hospital opens a request and co-signs it. Doctavie alerts compatible donors within the radius, without ever showing your identity to anyone.

  3. 3. You answer, or you don’t

    Answering commits you to nothing. You are asked at most four times a month, never twice for the same request, and at night only if you explicitly agreed to it.

I need blood for a relative

A request cannot be raised from a personal account alone. Speak to the facility treating your relative: a member of the team opens the request and co-signs it, and Doctavie then alerts compatible donors around the hospital. That signature is what protects donors from invented requests, which is why there is no way around it.

Frequently asked

How long between two donations?

Three months for a man, four for a woman, following Agence nationale du sang practice. Doctavie will not ask you before then: the interval is computed automatically and you have nothing to declare.

Can I be woken at night?

No, unless you explicitly enabled it in your settings. The option is off by default. Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. only donors who turned it on are alerted.

Who can see my blood group?

Nobody but you. Blood group is health data: your donor record is readable only by you, and the facility looking for blood never receives a donor list — Doctavie alerts them without naming them.

How often can I be asked?

At most four times in thirty days across all requests, and never twice for the same one. Beyond that you are not alerted, even by a request that matches you.
